Be a Tax Volunteer...
Volunteers are needed for free tax assistance sites across Montana. No previous tax preparation experience is needed, just a willingness to learn! Visit www.MontanaFreeFile.org and click on "Volunteer!" (or click here) for more information.
Training is provided and support throughout the tax season is extensive. Last year, thousands of free returns were completed across Montana by volunteer tax preparers.
Only basic tax returns are prepared and the service is only available to those with a household income of less than $40,000 and the elderly.
It's fun and rewarding! If you've been looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community, look no further.

Be a Financial Educator...
Credit unions across Montana participate in financial education classes in their communities. We are always on the lookout for volunteers that would like to share their talent of teaching basic money management and budgeting skills in their community.
If you are interested in volunteering with a local credit union on financial education classes, please contact MCUCD Director of Outreach Services Karen Smith at 1-800-745-5546, ext. 124, or karen@mcun.org.
Distribute Consumer Education Materials...
We have extensive consumer education materials (brochures, flyers, etc.) on topics such as identity theft, money management, the high cost of payday loans, and much more. Consider distributing these materials at your place of employment, in your community, or simply with your family!
Also, know that most of these consumer education materials are available in digital form on this website. If you would like to link to our website or use one of our logos, please contact MCUCD Director of Outreach Services Karen Smith at 1-800-745-5546, ext. 124, or karen@mcun.org.
Be a Credit Union Board or Committee Member...
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. That means they are run by a volunteer board of directors who are not paid for their services.
Be a part of the credit union family! Run for a seat on the board of directors or a committee of your credit union.
