Message from MCUCD

This year marks the first year that the Affordable Care Act will affect tax returns.

The individual shared responsibility provision of the Health Care Law requires you and each member of your family to have qualifying health insurance (called minimum essential coverage), have an exemption, or make a shared responsibility payment when filing a federal income tax return.

Nervous how this might affect you? Don’t be. There are many reputable resources out there, both for organizations and individuals, who can answer your tax questions regarding the ACA. We also have a great group of VITA volunteers trained, certified, and eager to help out.

As tax nerds we pride ourselves on solving hard problems and serving our clients. I know we will do just that with ACA this year. Between sharing resources, keeping you informed, and pure gumption, I know we will be able to tackle the ACA!

Community Development

Montana Credit Unions for Community Development (MCUCD) is a state-wide nonprofit organization working together with Montana's credit unions to improve the social and economic well-being of all Montanans.

We work closely with our parent organization, the Montana Credit Union Network, who has been serving Montana's credit unions as the state credit union trade association for over 70 years. Did you know that credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members? That's right, credit unions have no stockholders and are run by an unpaid volunteer board of directors!

Currently MCUCD’s efforts center in the following areas. Click on the above tabs for more information on each category.

If you would like a more detailed look at MCUCD’s accomplishments and disbursements, check out this graphic. MCUCD also has a 501(c)(3) charitable designation from the IRS.

We are passionate about credit unions and the work we do. Whether it is through free tax services, matched savings accounts, consumer resources, or financial education, we are here to help you reach your financial goals.
