Volunteers are needed for free tax assistance sites across Montana. No previous tax preparation experience is needed, just a willingness to learn! Training is provided and support throughout the tax season is extensive. Last year, thousands of free returns were completed across Montana by IRS certified volunteer tax preparers.
Credit unions across Montana participate in financial education classes in their communities. We are always on the lookout for volunteers that would like to share their talent of teaching basic money management and budgeting skills in their community.
We have extensive consumer education materials (brochures, flyers, etc.) on topics such as identity theft, money management, the high cost of payday loans, and much more. Consider distributing these materials at your place of employment, in your community, or simply with your family.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives. That means they are run by a volunteer board of directors who are not paid for their services. Be a part of the credit union family--run for a seat on the board of directors or a committee of your credit union.
MCUCD would like to thank the countless number of volunteers who have given their time, energy, and expertise to support our programs in their local Credit Unions. Through their efforts, over 50,000 Montanans have had access to Free Tax Services, Individual Development Accounts, Consumer Education, and Predatory Lending Alternatives.
Montana Credit Unions for Community Development (or MCUCD) is the award-winning, charitable arm of the Montana Credit Union Network. A state-wide nonprofit organization, MCUCD works together with the state's credit unions to improve the lives and financial independence of all Montanans.
